An ancient and mysterious Dome-Shaped Dome present at Merewether Baths continues to confuse and bewilder Local Newcastle Photographers. For whatever reason, this object is believed to have magical powers, emitting some sort of mind control that hypnotises anyone within 100m with a camera to take photographs of it, again and again, at different angles, all in the search for some elusive desire commonly referred to as ‘art’.

Rumour has it that these photographers enter a trance-like state for which they appear to be completely conscious but in reality have no recollection of their actions until up to 8 hours later when their photographs are already uploaded to Instagram / Facebook and Flickr.

No-one knows what this object is or where it came from. Now I’m no palientician, or Dome Doctor, but some say it was built by the Egyptians at the time of The Great Pyramids. Few know that the Egyptians actually built the Merewether Pyramids as a scaled down protoype before attempting The Great Pyramids (as pictured below). They may have been influenced by the hypnotic effect of the Great Dome and built the pyramids in it’s honour. Nobody knows. Unfortunately the Merewether Pyramids were subsequently lost with time, yet the Dome lived on.
Although Carbon Dating places the origin of the Great Dome much further back in time, clearly predates the pyramids. This is proven by this following photo. If you look carefully, inconspicuously hidden in the bottom left of the photo, next to the ocean, there is a faint hint of a velociraptor hiding near the Dome. Dinosaurs predate Pyramids. BOOM. Mind blown.
Maybe it’s a portal to another dimension? Maybe The Dome has always been and will always be? I guess we will never know where this Great Dome came from but not a day goes by that I’m not thankful for it’s existence. I’m even getting urges to take a photo, of the photo of the Dome on my screen. All hail glorious mysterious Dome.
